Lesson learnt a few weeks ago:
If you are using Linksys WRT54G router (might be true for routers, in general), enabling FrameBurst can increase your wireless speeds and performance. With this setting disabled (default), streaming audio would get stuck every once in a while even though I was getting excellent signals at 54Mbps. Enabling frameburst solved this problem. I still use FTP to transfer large files from wired->wireless though because I just don't want to take the chance, and FTP client gives me much more information unlike Windows' flying file animation :-).
